Florence Solis is a Filipino-Canadian self-taught painter and designer whose work explores themes of womanhood, resilience, and cultural memory. Born in the Philippines and immigrating to Canada in 2001, she uses painting as a way to reconnect with her heritage, weaving elements of mythology, motherhood, and craft into her work.
She earned her degree in Environmental Design from OCAD University in 2012, a background that informs her approach to composition and materiality. A recipient of the Ontario Arts Council grant, she has exhibited in Canada, U.S.A. and China.
